New York City Deputy Mayor Ed Skylar said the situation is alarming.
"We are very concerned with the problems the MTA has had implementing the security plan they outlined," Skylar said.
But when questioned by ABC News, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano seemed unaware of the problem.
Take it from a speech Defense Secretary Robert Gates gave last week:
"The last defense budget submitted by President George W. Bush for Fiscal Year 2009 was $515 billion. In that budget the Bush administration proposed – at my recommendation – a Fiscal Year 2010 defense budget of $524 billion. The budget just submitted by President Obama for FY 2010 was $534 billion. Even after factoring inflation, and some of the war costs that were moved from supplemental appropriations, President Obama's defense request represents a modest but real increase over the last Bush budget."
Pelosi was pressed by reporters on whether she continued to receive briefings and admitted that she is still receiving the CIA presentatoins. She refused to answer when this humble correspondent asked whether or not she believes intelligence professionals are still lying to her.
"The official also said it was unclear whether Myers acted for financial reasons, but a law enforcement official said the couple's primary motive was not money. The couple were 'true believers' in the Cuban system, the official said."
"U.S. and Iraqi negotiators have agreed to the withdrawal of all U.S. combat forces from the country by the end of 2011, and Iraqi officials said they are 'very close' to resolving the remaining issues blocking a final accord that governs the future American military presence here."
